Course Description

Darwin’s The Descent of Man tied human evolution with that of all other creatures. But just how did humanity come to be, and who…or what… were our direct ancestors? It took more than a century, and a lot of chasing down blind alleys, for that hotly debated question to be definitively settled—and we’re still refining the answer!

Join historian and science fiction author Gideon Marcus for a quick tour of hominid evolution, how we came to understand it, and what took us so long. 

**This is a HYBRID class, offered live in the classroom and online via ZOOM simultaneously.  Please choose either the Zoom or Classroom session at the time of registration.

**In class meetings require a separate parking fee of $5/day.  Please collect your parking permit through your CSUSM parking account.  If you do not already have a parking account Parking Services will create one for you upon registration.  You will receive an email from Parking Service which will include your Username, Password and a link to login and purchase permits/packages.  If you’re not sure if you have a parking account or you have one but need your login information, please contact us.
