OLLI Flag - History of the U.S. Flag

Course Description

The United States has had a variety of flags that came from the founding colonies through the establishment of the flag we know today. That history is full of stories of the origin, purpose, and use of those flags. That history is also full of myths and misinformation. We will look at some of the various flags such as the Grand Union Flag, Gadsden Flag, and the Appeal to Heaven flag that were used at the time of the American Revolution and how they led to our current flag.

**This is a HYBRID class, offered live in the classroom and online via ZOOM simultaneously.  Please choose either the Zoom or Classroom session at the time of registration.

**In class meetings require a separate parking fee of $5/day.  Please collect your parking permit through your CSUSM parking account.  If you do not already have a parking account Parking Services will create one for you upon registration.  You will receive an email from Parking Service which will include your Username, Password and a link to login and purchase permits/packages.  If you’re not sure if you have a parking account or you have one but need your login information, please contact us.
