Course Description

Join an elder fraud coordinator from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for a presentation on elder financial abuse and the investigation and prosecution of elder fraud cases in federal court. Learn the various methods criminals use to attempt elder financial abuse via mail, computer, phone, TV/radio and in person. Get an overview of the types of financial fraud schemes currently trending in Southern California (e.g., grandparent scams, romance scams, investment scams). Familiarize yourself with the typical signs of financial abuse and get tips on how to avoid it.

**This is a HYBRID class, offered live in the classroom and online via ZOOM simultaneously.  Please choose either the Zoom or Classroom session at the time of registration.

**In class meetings require a separate parking fee of $5/day.  Please collect your parking permit through your CSUSM parking account.  If you do not already have a parking account Parking Services will create one for you.  You will receive an email from Parking Service which will include your Username, Password and a link to login and purchase permits/packages.  If you’re not sure if you have a parking account or you have one but need your login information, please contact us.
